Dorota Grynczel's painting has been a field for her to explore the theme of space and light. Meticulously and with great love for precision, she created works characterized by a multitude of optical illusions and an impression of immersive depth. Perfectionism in the pursuit of perfection is manifested in the detailed elaboration of the painting surface. Form takes primacy over color here, although the latter has never been a matter of indifference but a tool for Grynczel. Skillful use of color tones was one way of constructing space. Blue dominated the artist's paintings since the 1980s, and she used to say of blue that it was a color with no beginning and no end, knowing no boundaries. She was able to vary its intensity in such a way that monochromatic compositions were alive - pulsating, rippling, going beyond the canvas area. In the offered composition, an intense cobalt blue dominates the painting. The color gradually fades only at the edge of the composition. It fades completely leaving the white edges of the canvas. The horizontal axis creates a symmetrical figure of two trapezoids connected by their longer sides, oriented with respect to each other as in a mirror image. The harmony of the form is emphasized by Grynczel's characteristic elaboration of the painting layer, which, thanks to vertical grooving lines, gives the impression of movement. Dorota Grynczel's abstract painting, in broad terms, is part of the continuation of her Op Art search. The artist, whose second field of activity was artistic fabric, emphasizes texture and its role in the construction of space with particular sensitivity.
